TIMES PRESENT

Thunderdome is a world into the future.

We create the present with the future in mind.

Wondering just what the future holds...as I set here putting all the little things together that I have collected in this present time.
Thunderdome is only a shadow, a shadow that seems to grow larger as the sun glows ever so brightly.

Button, stone, metal, bead  and string all come together in hope for the future.

THUNDERDOME

Here are some of the bracelets I have been working on lately.

 I call these Thunderdome.

I wanted to create something that had the feel of AFTER...when all that was left was the creative power to start again.
In starting over from nothing all you have is what is in the spirit.
You look at everything differently. You pick up little things that seem to have no connection, but as you continue to collect all the little things add up, bringing time past and time future together.

The Hand of Time

This is a simple piece that I made in a short time. The hand is made with 3 gauges of copper wire and silver solder. It is finished off by a tattered brown ribbon and an old glass pearl bead with silver wire. The latch is brass with a tiger eye chip. The necklace is a soft brown suade leather  that feel comfortable around the neck.

This talisman could have been worn by a woman who helped those around her in a time of turmoil, when life was harsh and death was easy.

I worked on this bracelet for three hours. Each bead is wrapped. There are glass beads, semi-precious turquoise, sodalite, coral and coins. I made the chain of copper as well. This item is SOLD.
As I sat and worked on this piece  I kept thinking about what I was going to do to the next piece. It seems strange that the mind can be doing one thing and something so different at the same time.

These two pieces have nothing in common and yet they could be worn together.

A more cheerful piece, this bracelet  lightens the mood of the wearer.

As she goes from town to town lending a helping hand to those in need, the many colors of stone makes a lasting impression on all who see it and brings a smile to the inner soul.

SHAMAN OF DAYS

Copper with a mixed collection of wood, shell, glass beads, stone, trade beads and more bring this necklace to life. The string is wool fiber with leather, rubber and nylon braid.

The shaman that may have worn a similar piece was a traveler of the world. She worked her majik where she went. She lived a long life with pride in what she knew she could do for any who asked for her assistance.

Dusty Street

DustyStreets
My bracelets with byzantium influence.

Large caravans of traders traveled far and wide to bring only the best the silk road had to offer. Camels loaded down with precious goods that only the rich elite could afford. The past comes forward.

This amethysts colored bracelet has stone and glass as well as pearl and metal.
As she walks up the street to the old part of town she meets a small boy with a jug in his hands, he is on his way to the communal well. She lightly touches his soft curls as he passes by.

This item is SOLD.

Black glass and stone beads along with metal charms give a strong sense of the past.

As she walks down a dusty side street on her way to market, the bracelet makes a tinkling sound which brings a smile to her face.

This copper and silver bracelet has just a touch of turquoise.

Strolling the dusty path she meets a traveler. They stop to speak and he tales her he is from the plains of Tushan. This item has been SOLD.

Amber tones with bronze come together to create the feel of history.

Her sandals sturs up alittle dust as she slowly makes her way up the hill to the old temple. The late afternoon sun is setting behind the hill now.

TIMES PAST

With times past always coming forward
the future always has a way of repeating itself.

As she walks the banks of the Nile she sees the Great pyramid in the distance. Putting one hand up to shield her eyes from the bright disk of Ra and with the other she touches her talisman, a special prayer is said.

Here is an early example of my work. I made the medallion from aluminum sheeting and covered it with tissue paper and setting medium. I then added patina to give it an old warmth. SOLD

The snow covered mountains of Tibet are brutal, but come spring she will see the new life she now carries. The shaman gave her the talisman to protect her during her time.

I use a black nylon cord for most of my pieces. I sometimes will add knots in between the beadwork.

This piece is made with aluminum as well. Green glass is used. I created the paper beads to round out the work.

I LOVE to use found objects to use in my work as well. If it has a hole or one can be added I will try to put it on a string. SOLD
